The Medicare program was established in 1965 by Title XVIII of the Social Security Act. Medicare is a federally funded, beneficiary driven health insurance program. It is designed to provide assistance with some medical costs incurred by Medicare beneficiaries. The federal government contracts with private insurance organizations (carriers) to make Medicare payments. Durable medical equipment requests for People with Medicare in the state of Minnesota are processed by the AdminaStar Federal Region B Durable Medical Equipment Regional Carrier (DMERC).

Individuals ages 65 and older and persons with disabilities

Types of disabilities served:
Persons aged 65 or older, receiving Social Security retirement benefits, or persons permanently disabled receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits, or persons diagnosed with end stage renal disease (ESRD)

Statewide
