The Elderly Waiver is a program that funds home and community-based services for people age 65 and older who require the level of care provided in a nursing home and choose to live in the community. You must qualify for the Medical Assistance program to be eligible for Elderly Waiver services.

The applicant should have limitations or dependencies present that would require nursing or certified board care facility level of care
Area of Minnesota served:
Statewide
Eligibility criteria:
1. Be age 65 or older.
2. Be eligible for the Medical Assistance program.
3. Need nursing home level of care as determined by the Long-Term Care Consultation process.
4. Need services that Elderly Waiver can provide for less than the cost of care in a nursing home.
Maximum amount individual can receive:
Dependent on individually determined budget limits.
Additional notes:
Funding may be used for installation, maintenance, and repair.
